Team QMS High Performance Foundation
The Team QMS High-Performance Competitive Program advances committed riders who demonstrate good horsemanship, leadership and sportsmanship—in the saddle, in the classroom and on the ground. Our competitive riders are fully supported in balancing riding and academics, athletics, arts, service and leadership opportunities. We believe high-performance is a way of life and support our athletes in building a strong, well-rounded foundation.
As part of our competitive riding pathways, Team QMS competitive riders participate in our High-Performance Foundations Program. With horses as their co-teachers, students will learn about mental and emotional performance, tactical skill building, functional strength and conditioning, nutrition, and the power of daily practice. Horse board and lease options are available at the Shirley Burr Equestrian Centre.
Program Highlights
- Full training program with lessons up to five (5) days per week, regular training rides for horses and optional practice rides
- Top level coaching in hunters, jumpers and equitation with Equestrian Canada Certified Coaches
- Opportunities to compete with Team QMS at the local, regional and national levels
- Academic support and online tutoring during horse shows
- Post-secondary acceptance and scholarship support
- Renowned clinicians throughout the year, focusing on skill development and mental performance
- 10–12-month Equestrian Program options for Team QMS riders
The Shirley Burr Equestrian Centre at Queen Margaret’s School
The Shirley Burr Equestrian Centre offers riding and classroom space, premium stabling and ample daily turnout space — all just a short walk from classes and student residences. Horse boarding or leasing allows rider and horse to grow their skills together.
