Early Childhood Education
Our Early Childhood Education program marks the beginning of your child’s educational journey. As a member of our Junior School community, you are part of the traditions that have become the foundation of our school for a century.
For almost 20 years, QMS has offered an engaging, play-based, Early Childhood Education curriculum that aims to inspire children to become lifelong learners. Our experienced educators provide a nurturing environment which fosters exploration, inquiry, and social interaction. We continue to enjoy a new facility that includes two spacious classrooms, meeting rooms, kitchen area, and an outdoor learning space.
Our ECE students also have the advantage of being part of a larger school community with access to a gymnasium, a library, music, healthy snacks and lunches, and other school resources.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Our Preschool and Junior Kindergarten classes offer children and their parents a unique educational and childcare opportunity:
- An enriching program keeps pace with each student’s evolving development and nurtures the whole child.
- Uniforms create a sense of belonging.
- A structured schedule includes library, music and gym time.
- Healthy morning snacks and lunches are prepared on campus and served in the classroom.
- Optional afternoon daycare from 12:00pm (noon) to 5:00pm.
- Teachers in our Preschool and Junior Kindergarten programs are Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certified and are dedicated to providing a nurturing experience.
ECE Program Schedule (example)
QMS Preschool & Junior Kindergarten – Morning Program
8:15am–9:15am: Activity centers open for exploration (science, art, crafts, small and large motor activities and dramatic play).
9:15am–9:30am: Clean up. Children assist in putting the toys away.
9:30am–9:45am: Snack (provided by QMS).
9:45am–10:30am: Group time and on campus activities (library, gym, music)
10:30am–11:30am: Outside play.
11:30am–12:00pm: Lunch (provided by QMS).
12:00pm: Parent pick-up for morning students.
QMS Preschool & Junior Kindergarten – Afternoon Care
12:00pm–2:00pm: Rest time/quiet activities such as puzzles, games, and play dough.
2:15pm–2:45pm: Snack (provided by QMS). Children assist in preparation and clean up.
2:45pm: Outside time with group games and activities.
5:00pm: Centre closes.
