Rider Development
Queen Margaret’s School (QMS) offers Canada’s only on-campus rider development programs. From our Rookie Riders and Learn to Ride programs for students with no experience, through our Royal Riders for developing riders, all the way to our Team QMS High-Performance Foundations Program, all QMS students have the opportunity to learn, with horses as their co-teachers.
We believe that excellence in equestrian sport occurs not only through determination, perseverance, and attention to detail, but also through community, teamwork, and leadership. QMS riders will find these values integral to our program as they explore mental and emotional performance, functional strength and conditioning, tactical skill building, nutrition, and the power of daily practice.
Program Highlights
- Learning opportunities are integrated into our Physical Health Education curriculum.
- Industry expert workshops and ongoing support from QMS staff.
- Small group and one-on-one learning opportunities are incorporated into yearly clinic programming.
- Equestrian Canada Certified Coaches in hunters, jumpers, equitation and dressage.
- Lesson opportunities within and outside of the school timetable.
- Equestrian Physical & Health Education credit option.
- Study theory, stable management and riding skills as part of our integrated Equestrian Canada Rider Level program (with academic credit options).
- Riding available for Grades 3–12.
- IEA Team for Grades 4–8 (Futures Team) and Grades 9–12 (Varsity Team)
- Spring Break and Summer Riding Camps available for young riders.
