Ticket Punched to BC Championships

The QMS Girls Soccer Team battled through two intense days of competition at the Island High School Championships, taking on some of the top teams on the Island in pursuit of a berth at the Provincial Championships in Kamloops, May 28–30.

The Royals opened the tournament with a statement victory against PCS, a team QMS had never previously defeated. Showing composure, confidence, and relentless effort, the Royals capitalized on their opportunities and secured an impressive 4–2 win. Honey W. (’27) led the attack with two goals, while Jessica T. (’27) and Katie S. (’28) each added one.

In their second match, QMS faced tournament powerhouse DCS. Despite a determined effort and strong defensive play, DCS emerged victorious with a 3–0 win.

The Royals responded well in their final pool game against a motivated NCS squad. After a tightly contested opening 15 minutes, QMS broke through offensively and never looked back, earning a dominant 4–0 victory. Dany A-B. (’30) scored twice, while Kayle H. (’26) and Quinn S. (‘29) each found the back of the net once.

That set up a dramatic bronze medal match against St. Andrew’s, with a Provincial Championship berth on the line. Both teams traded chances throughout a tense and physical battle, but late in the second half the Royals earned a free kick from 25 yards out. Captain Kayle stepped up in the clutch, blasting a powerful strike past the St. Andrew’s keeper to give QMS a thrilling 1–0 victory.

Congratulations to all of the players for their outstanding effort, teamwork, and resilience throughout the tournament. The Royals once again earned their place among the province’s best and will now prepare to compete at the Provincial Championships. Good luck, ladies!
