This year marked our 5th annual Social Entrepreneurship Pop-Up Market, where Grade 8 students stepped into the role of entrepreneur while supporting a meaningful cause. As a grade, students chose to donate the proceeds from this year’s market to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Working in teams, students were challenged to think creatively and resourcefully as they developed a company and built a product from the ground up. Throughout the process, they gained hands-on experience in budgeting and expense tracking, problem-solving through prototyping, and developing marketing strategies to help their products stand out.
This year’s market featured an impressive variety of student-created products, including mystery mining kits, driftwood jewellery holders, handmade candles, keychains, and more.
Beyond raising more than $1,000 for an important cause, the project encouraged students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and explore how businesses can create a positive impact within their communities.
