Innovation, inquiry, and real-world problem-solving were on full display at the 2026 QMS Grade 10 STEM Fair! We would like to congratulate this year’s winners:
First Place went to Tayven S. and Julian L. for “Using Plastic Bottles to Create 3D Printing Material.” Their project explored how recycling everyday waste can contribute to sustainable manufacturing—an inspiring example of circular design in action.
Second Place was awarded to Ariel G. for “How Can We Predict a Horse’s Potential in Dressage?” By blending data analysis with equestrian science, Ariel examined the measurable factors that may influence performance outcomes.
Third Place went to Saoirse Mc. for investigating “How Does Adding a Propeller Guard to a Boat Acoustic Whale Deterrent Affect Whale Propeller Collisions?” Her research tackled marine conservation through thoughtful engineering design.
Teacher’s Choice was presented to Supriya P. for studying how algae’s photosynthetic activity influences the electrical potential they produce—an exciting look at bioenergy innovation.
Student’s Choice went to Ella A. and Luca T. for exploring how caffeine impacts plant growth.
Next stop: the Vancouver Island Science Fair at the University of Victoria. Good luck, QMS scientists!
