Robotics Team Rocks Inaugural Season

A major milestone for QMS this season as our first ever Robotics Teams qualified for the VEX Vancouver Island Championships.

At the start of the year, it was widely expected to be a building season for our new teams, with few anticipating they would be competitive at this level. Yet, both teams embraced the underdog mindset and set out to prove otherwise, showing determination, creativity, and steady growth all season long.

At the Island Championships, Team QMS Clankers finished 16th overall and advanced to the playoffs. They were also recognized with the Innovate Award for their detailed and thoughtful engineering logbook, highlighting the development journey of their robot and the team’s commitment to design and iteration.

Team QMS Strafe delivered an historic performance, finishing 2nd overall! Their robot impressed competitors and judges alike, earning praise for its unique design and consistent performance throughout the tournament.

While both teams were eliminated in the first round of playoffs, they proved they can compete with the strongest programs on the island and made a lasting impression.

This season’s success reflects countless hours of dedication from our student team members, who spent long evenings building, testing, and refining their work.

Thank you as well to our coaches, staff, and families for their ongoing support in helping these students thrive.
