Over the weekend, QMS sent a fantastic Model United Nations team to Vancouver for the biggest conference in North America, with over 1500 delegates from around the world.
At VMUN, our delegates represented UN committees like DISEC, WHO, WMO, NATO, HOC, CCPCJ, APEC, IAEA, ILO and the Canadian House of Commons. Our students really mastered the art of diplomacy as 5 students won awards in their committees. This is a historic win for QMS and a testament to an amazing Model UN program at our school.
Congratulations to our co-captains Supriya P. (’28) and Xia S. (’26) for helming this program. Xia was the first QMS student to staff at VMUN as the assistant director of APEC and Supriya shone in her committee and won the “Best Research” award.
Charlotte I. (’29) played the part of the Liberal Minister of Women and Gender Equality in the House of Commons and won “Best Research” for her efforts. Also winning the “Honourable Mention” awards were Saoirse Mc. (’28) in IAEA, Johan K. (’28) in ILO and Maxwell G. (’31) in WMO.
Next up, we have two delightful groups attending the VIU Ethics Bowl on February 15. And then, our very own Queen MUN on March 7!
