On Saturday, March 7, the Royal Debaters hosted QueenMUN 2026, the school’s annual in-house Model United Nations conference. The event brought together delegates from Grades 6 to 12 representing QMS, St. Michael’s University School and Brentwood College School.
Participants took part in three committees designed for different levels of experience. The beginner-level committee, DISEC (Disarmament and International Security), introduced younger delegates to the fundamentals of debate and diplomacy, with cybersecurity being the main topic. More experienced students joined the UNHCR committee discussing the global refugee crisis. Finally, the advanced delegates tackled a historically complex and dynamic Ad Hoc committee simulating a New World Order with nuanced political ideologies.
A highlight of the conference was the leadership demonstrated by student organizers, namely Co-Directors Xia S. (’26) and Supriya P. (’28), and Secretariat team members Johan K. (’28), Naya S. (’27), Victoria B. (’28), Maxwell G. (’31), Saoirse Mc. (’28) and Ian N. (’27). Members of the dais teams not only chaired the committees during the event but also researched and wrote the committee background guides in advance, collaborated with student leaders from the other schools, mentored younger students in researching and writing position papers, and worked with faculty sponsors to finalize the logistics of the event. They led the discussions with impressive knowledge, poise, and authority, helping ensure a professional and engaging experience for all participants.
Congratulations to all QueenMUN 2026 organizers and participants for a very successful conference!
