The QMS Senior Boys Soccer Team took part in the DCS Soccer Open last week and they delivered a performance to remember.
In their opening match, the Royals faced PCS, a team they had never managed to defeat in past seasons. Unfazed by history, our boys controlled every area of the pitch and powered their way to a commanding 3–0 victory. Scoring for the Royals were Nico P. X 2 (‘28) and Brayden Z. x 1 (‘28) while Josiah W. (‘28) stood tall in goal to record the clean sheet.
Game two brought another strong opponent in Brentwood, but the Royals’ disciplined formation and relentless offensive pressure proved too much to handle. With a hat trick from Nico and an additional goal from Cosmo M. (‘29), QMS secured a 4–2 win.
Friday opened with a spirited clash against Ucluelet, where both sides battled fiercely. Ultimately, the Royals pulled away with a convincing 3–1 triumph thanks to another two goals from Peret and one from Monro.
The championship final set up a David versus Goliath showdown against Qwu’utsun’s A team, a AAAA powerhouse that had cruised through their earlier matches.
Undaunted, our Royals played with heart, discipline, and determination. In a thrilling display of teamwork and resilience, QMS emerged victorious with a 2–1 win to capture the tournament title. Goals came from Peret and Ray Y. (‘27), sealing a remarkable championship run.
The Royals have started their season on fire and now turn their focus to a tough DCS squad this Wednesday at the Cowichan Sportsplex (kickoff at 3:00 pm). Come out and show your support as our boys continue their quest for excellence!
