We are grateful to share that Queen Margaret’s School has been selected as this year’s Innovation in Inclusive Employment Award recipient by the Clements Centre for Families. This recognition is especially meaningful to us as it was voted on by members of the Cowichan Valley community.
Presented at a black-tie celebration on January 24, the award acknowledges employers who are making thoughtful efforts to advance inclusive hiring practices. It highlights organizations working to remove barriers and create opportunities through approaches such as customized roles, adaptive technologies, and supportive onboarding and training.
At QMS, we continue to learn and grow in our commitment to fostering a workplace where diverse talents, perspectives, and experiences are welcomed and valued. We believe that building an inclusive community strengthens us all, and we are thankful for the partnerships and guidance that support this work.
In addition to the Innovation in Inclusive Employment Award, QMS also received a Recognition Award for Inclusive Hiring Practices, which further encourages us to remain intentional in our efforts.
The award itself is particularly special, having been handcrafted by local Indigenous artist Sarah Robertson. It reflects themes of community, culture, and inclusion, and serves as a meaningful reminder of the region we are fortunate to be part of.
We are sincerely appreciative of this recognition and of the community that continues to inspire and support inclusive employment practices at QMS.
