Sometimes it’s easier to talk to someone who gets it—another student who understands the pressures of school, friendships, and being a teenager. That’s where our incredible PULSE (Peer Understanding, Leadership, Support and Empowerment) Peer Mentors come in.
PULSE Peer Mentors are trained senior students who support Grades 6–12 by offering a safe, welcoming space to talk about everyday challenges—from school stress and friendships to mental health and wellbeing.
The program is closely supported by our Senior School Counsellors, Alison and Rubeena, with weekly group supervision and ongoing training to ensure students feel safe, supported, and heard.
This year’s team includes eight Grade 11 and 12 students in their second year of the program, along with four new Peer Mentors who joined this fall. All mentors receive formal training in conflict resolution, Mental Health First Aid, active listening, stress management, and complete the YMind wellbeing program, focused on managing stress and anxiety.
Peer Mentors can be accessed through the Senior School Counsellors, the Mental Health & Wellbeing Teams page, or by emailing pulse@qms.bc.ca.
We are so grateful for these students who generously volunteer their time to support others in our community.
