Podium Standings at Western Canadians

This past weekend, QMS wrestlers competed at Western Canadians—one of the toughest tournaments in the West—and the Seaforth Cup, featuring top high school talent from Southwest BC. Due to the exceptionally high level of competition, this was a select tournament weekend, with athlete spots earned through hard work, consistency, and dedication in practice.

Competing against elite talent from across the province and country, QMS athletes rose to the challenge, delivering strong performances and gaining valuable experience on the national and provincial stage.

Highlights:
• U17 Brayden Z. (’28) led the way with silver, battling through a full round-robin and a hard-fought finals match against a familiar rival. This matchup was a clear sign of things to come, with a likely rematch at BC Provincials and Nationals.
• U15 Kate G. (’31) impressed at her first national-calibre event by earning silver, showing grit and clear Nationals potential.
• U17 Amellia K. (’28) faced top national-level opponents and earned a pinfall victory, showing impressive growth and composure.
• U17 Grant P. (’27) took on a stacked 80 kg division, demonstrating toughness and resilience against provincial champs and Nationals finalists.

Seaforth Cup – Ella S. (’30)
With no athletes in her Western age-class bracket, Ella was sent to the Seaforth Cup, where she competed in a Senior-level division as a Junior athlete. In a very tough bracket that included the no. 1 and no. 2 seeded 90 kg wrestlers in BC, Ella finished 5th overall with a 2–2 record. Both of her victories came by pinfall, making the result especially impressive given the experience and level of competition she faced.

We are proud of our wrestlers for representing QMS with heart, resilience, and sportsmanship. This weekend was a true reflection of the hard work and growth of our wrestling program.
