Making NFFTY History

A major achievement for QMS students at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) in Seattle.

The festival featured young filmmakers (24 and under) from 41 countries. While some aspects of the festival were non-competitive, audience-based awards were also presented.

QMS had three films selected from a 24-hour filmmaking challenge:
• One entered into competition
• Two screened outside of competition

The competition film, created by Sierra P. (’26), Kaylin W. (’26), Matthew R. (’26), Sarah H. (’26), and Paulina D. (’27), exceeded expectations and was awarded Top Film across the entire festival!

This marks the first time QMS has won at this festival.

The award includes:
• $750 for the QMS Film Department
• $5,000 scholarships to Vancouver Film School for each of the five student filmmakers

A total of $25,000 in scholarships, in addition to the departmental award. Congratulations to these talented students on an outstanding accomplishment!
