Honouring Xavier’s Legacy

Throughout the final weeks of the school year, we were thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments, growth, and contributions of students across all grades through a series of end-of-year assemblies. These gatherings provided meaningful opportunities to recognize the many ways our students have embraced challenges, demonstrated leadership, and enriched our community throughout the year.

Our Grade 6–7 assembly held a particularly special significance as we came together to honour the memory and legacy of a beloved member of our community, Xavier Rasul-Jankovics. This year marked the first full school year that Xavier’s Grade 7 classmates navigated without their dear friend, and the assembly became a heartfelt moment of remembrance, reflection, and connection.

In Xavier’s memory, his family established two meaningful awards that celebrate the qualities he embodied and the values he inspired in others. The Rasul-Jankovics Bursary for Science & Technology was awarded to Maxwell G. (’31), recognizing a student’s passion and promise in these fields.

The inaugural Xavier’s Memorial Award was presented to Camryn H. (’31), one of Xavier’s dearest friends. This award recognizes a Junior School student who has demonstrated perseverance in the face of challenge, a sense of justice in the pursuit of equity, and the courage to take responsibility in difficult situations—qualities that reflect Xavier’s own spirit and the impact he had on those around him.

We were deeply grateful to welcome the Rasul-Jankovics family to campus to share in this meaningful moment. Their generosity ensures that Xavier’s memory will continue to inspire future generations of students and that the values he represented will remain an enduring part of our community.

As we celebrated students of all ages this year, this special gathering reminded us that the greatest legacy we leave behind is found in the kindness, courage, and connections we create with one another.
