Cross Country Sprints Ahead

The Cowichan Valley Schools Cross-Country Series set off at a blistering pace in sunny Bright Angel Park (meet 1 of 4) on September 22.

Our 10 Royals athletes set the pace early in the meet as the Junior boys demonstrated strength and teamwork. Stefan C. (‘29 in 2nd), Mauro A. (‘30 in 3rd), James H. (‘30 in 5th) and Xander H. (‘30 in 6th) showed that QMS are the team to beat in this age category.

Our Senior boys also showed early promise with Angus P. (‘28) in 2nd and Brayden Z. (‘28) in 3rd.

However, it was the girls who had stand-out runs individually, with Chelsea R. (‘30) delivering second place in the Junior girls race, and Honey W. (’27) leading the field to first place in the Senior girls race, beating the second placed runner by almost four minutes!

Coaches Ms. Smith and Mr. Swannell are excited by the season ahead and look forward to seeing our athletes reach their potential, whether it be in their development as an inexperienced runner, or aiming to qualify and compete at provincial level.

The next meet is this Thursday, October 1, at Glenora Trails Head Park.
