Senior Girls School Welcome Message

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Queen Margaret’s School whose rich history of innovative education for girls is built on a foundation of academic excellence, athletic and fine arts participation, and service. Our roots are humble, but our accomplishments are well recognized. QMS graduates are accepted to leading universities in Canada, the United States and around the world.

Queen Margaret’s Senior School program exists to empower students to pursue their interests in an environment of achievement. Whether students are passionate about engineering, the dramatic arts or equine science, they will find the opportunity and the expertise of our staff available to help them excel. Our academic expectations are high and our teachers strive to ensure the relevancy of course content for development of the skills and dispositions needed in the 21st century.

In keeping with Queen Margaret’s core values, our students are actively supported to think critically, lead confidently, and live honourably. Subject specialist teachers work to ensure each student is an active participant in her own learning. The school environment fosters open and safe dialogue where all staff members encourage students to challenge themselves, to question and to investigate.

Our school is a member of the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools, a network of girls’ schools across North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. We access research, share information and continually develop our program to match our evolving understanding of how girls learn best.

Our learning community is diverse and our students benefit by forging lifelong bonds of friendship around the world. The school’s focus on developing a sense of shared responsibility for the future of our planet is cultivated through the exchange of ideas and the development of empathy and tolerance for multiple points of view.

We welcome you to visit our school and learn firsthand about what makes Queen Margaret’s School unique.

Senior School Principal

It's years later and QMS still feels very much like home. I was fortunate enough to make some incredible friends both with the students and faculty, and I still maintain many of them today.
