QMS Athletic Programs - Junior School

Balance body and mind

Regular physical activity is a foundation for life-long health. At QMS, students participate in regular physical education classes that support skill development and teamwork. Students take Physical Health Education classes led by specialist athletic teachers and may participate in intramural games, extra-curricular sports and co-curricular activities that support fitness and personal wellness.

Athletics & Activities

Junior School students can participate in friendly competition in cross-country, swimming, soccer, field hockey, flag rugby, basketball, track & field, equestrian, strength & conditioning, wrestling and volleyball. Other physical activity field trips include bowling, ice skating and hiking.

Outdoor Education

There are many opportunities for students on our scenic 30-acre school campus for outdoor education, and we also offer age-appropriate Outdoor Education trips for students beginning in Kindergarten. Day-long excursions for Primary students engage and inspire while building their critical thinking skills.

Students in Grades 4-7 enjoy overnight Outdoor Education trips to camps on Vancouver Island. These trips involve students in physical and team-building activities while growing their understanding of positive leadership.

Co-curricular & Recreational Activities

Co-curricular activities are another way for students to develop their physical fitness and skills while strengthening their self esteem. These include golf, swimming, tennis, mountain biking, hiking, ultimate frisbee and skiing.

Equestrian Program

Our fully integrated Equestrian Program offers riders of all levels a unique opportunity to experience and enhance their skills. Younger riders can also compete on our QMS IEA Team, lunching in the fall of 2023.
